It does not have a metal frame for a plastic bobbin. The amount of cable (at least for outdoor) that can be used is quite opimistic. Sustainable will how I don’t know, but I will post back when I have more experience so far so good. (Holds a little over 30 “cable resistant to outside/oil 12/3″).

I should probably give this 5 stars, since I found nothing no better. In fact, nothing else has even come close. I used this during more than 6 months and it works very well with a high quality extension. If you reel too quickly, the cord can create a wayward loop, but if you use a moderate speed, it works very well.
